A transformer temperature monitoring device uses powered sensing and electronics to acquire one or more operating variables and transmit them to a compatible display, RTU, PLC or supervisory system. It differs from a self-contained mechanical OTI or WTI.

How to Select a Transformer Temperature Monitoring Device

Define the measured variables, sensor arrangement, DC supply, analog or RS485 interface, protocol, scaling and alarm responsibility. Confirm tank mounting, oil compatibility, enclosure protection, receiving terminal and commissioning method.

Start with the temperature you need to monitor

Use an OTI for transformer top-oil temperature. Use a traditional WTI when the project requires simulated winding temperature based on top oil and transformer load. If you need data in a PLC, RTU, SCADA system or remote display, specify Pt100, 4-20 mA or RS485.

Check the installation before choosing a model

Send the transformer type, existing model, measuring range, contact duty, power supply, capillary length, sensing bulb, thread and mounting dimensions. For a replacement, include clear photos of the nameplate, dial, terminals and installed capillary.
