A transformer oil temperature indicator, or OTI, senses oil temperature at a thermometer pocket in the upper oil region. BWY and BWY2 models provide local indication and can operate contacts for transformer cooling or alarm functions.

How to Select a Transformer Oil Temperature Indicator

Start with the required top-oil scale and the thermometer pocket. Then define the number and purpose of cooling or alarm contacts, Pt100 or 4-20 mA output, capillary route, bulb dimensions, M27 × 2 thread and outdoor installation conditions.

Start with the temperature you need to monitor

Use an OTI for transformer top-oil temperature. Use a traditional WTI when the project requires simulated winding temperature based on top oil and transformer load. If you need data in a PLC, RTU, SCADA system or remote display, specify Pt100, 4-20 mA or RS485.

Check the installation before choosing a model

Send the transformer type, existing model, measuring range, contact duty, power supply, capillary length, sensing bulb, thread and mounting dimensions. For a replacement, include clear photos of the nameplate, dial, terminals and installed capillary.
